Is There an Ideal Weight for a Body of 165 cm in Height?

Although there is no exact weight to aspire to at 165 centimeters -- which is about 5 feet and 5 inches -- there is a range that helps determine your fitness level. Falling above this range could put you at risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other weight-related illnesses. However, your weight doesn't tell the complete story, as it doesn't always indicate body-fat levels. It's body fat, not muscle weight, that leads to health woes.

    Know Your Range

Your height and weight determine your body mass index, or BMI, which indicates whether or not you're in a healthy weight range. At five feet and 5 inches -- or 65 inches -- you should ideally weigh between 114 and 145 pounds. If you weigh more than that up to 174 pounds, you're considered overweight; after that, you're considered obese. If you are under 114 pounds, you are considered underweight.

    The Waist-Size Factor

Because BMI is limited in gauging body-fat levels, you should also measure your waist circumference to determine if you're at risk of obesity-related health problems. A waist size of more than 35 inches is unhealthy for women, while a circumference of 40 or more inches spells trouble for men, regardless of weight.
