    Puffed and baked crunchy circles of whole grain, gluten-free, brown rice made with 100 percent natural whole grains, Quaker Rice Cakes, come in a variety of flavors. Initially found in Southeast Asia where rice is the foundation of almost every meal, plain rice cakes did not appear in the United States until the mid-1980s. There are no oils, additives or binding ingredients used in the production of rice cakes. It is only when adding the flavoring that the nutritional value may come into question.

    Serving Information and Varieties

    One whole grain rice cake equals one serving, which is approximately 9 g. Quaker rice cakes come in plain, Apple Cinnamon, Caramel corn, Chocolate Crunch, Lightly Salted, Butter Popped Corn, White Cheddar and Salt-Free. Snack cakes come in Mini Delights, Multigrain Fiber Crisp, Rice Snacks and Tortillaz.

    Calories, Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium

    One plain rice cake has 35 calories, with no fat, no cholesterol and 15 mg of sodium providing 1 percent daily value based on a 2,000-calorie diet. In comparison, the Quaker Butter Popped Corn Rice Cake has 35 calories, no fat or cholesterol and 45 mg of sodium. The Quaker Apple Cinnamon Rice Cake has 50 calories, no fat, no cholesterol and no sodium.

    Carbohydrates and Protein

    One rice cake contains 7 g of total carbohydrates providing 2 percent daily value, providing no dietary fiber or sugars. A single rice cake provides 1 g of protein. The Quaker Butter Popped Corn Rice Cake has 8 g of carbohydrates and 1 g of protein. The Quaker Apple Cinnamon Rice Cake has 11 g of carbohydrates with 3 g of sugars, but still only 1 g of protein.

    Vitamins and Minerals

    None of the Quaker Rice Cake varieties has a significant amount of vitamins or minerals.

    Ingredients

    Ingredients include whole grain brown rice and salt. Quaker lightly salted rice cakes are gluten-free, and provide 9 g of whole grains. The Quaker Apple Cinnamon Rice Cake has sugar, fructose, maltodextrin, natural flavor, cinnamon and soy lecithin. As with all the rice cakes, they may contain traces of peanuts and several do have soy ingredients, which may be a concern to individuals with soy related allergies.
