Myoplex Nutrition Shake Warnings
EAS is a sports and nutrition company that produces a wide variety of supplements for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. One of the major product lines from EAS is Myoplex, which includes ready-to-drink shakes, protein powders and nutrition bars. While the Myoplex products contain essential nutrients and healthy ingredients, there are warnings associated with the Myoplex shakes. As a result, always consult a doctor or dietitian before using protein supplements or shakes.

Myoplex shakes' calorie content and breakdown of macronutrients is a concern. One serving of Myoplex Original shake contains 300 calories with 50 calories from fat. Along with the 6 g of total fat, one serving also provides 42 g of protein. This blend of macronutrients is designed to support lean muscle mass, but may be too much for some individuals looking to lose weight or control fat and protein intake. The Myoplex Lite shakes, however, contain only 180 calories and 25 g of protein per serving.
Ingredients
Ingredients used in Myoplex shakes are listed on the nutrition label and include a variety of protein, vitamin and mineral blends along with additives and filler ingredients. Protein ingredients include whey protein concentrate, calcium caseinate, milk-protein isolate, whey protein isolate and egg albumin. One or more of these protein ingredients may not be tolerated by individual gastrointestinal tracts. The blend of ingredients also provides 50 mg of cholesterol for nearly 17 percent of the daily recommended intake.
Food Allergies
Individuals with certain food allergies need to watch the Myoplex shake ingredients for possible allergens. The Myoplex shakes contain egg, milk and soy ingredients but are wheat, rice and gluten free. As a result, someone who is lactose intolerant should avoid Myoplex shakes. Potential symptoms could include diarrhea or abdominal cramping if consumed. The inclusion of milk protein derivates also makes Myoplex shakes not suitable for strict vegetarians.
Metals
Some protein shakes contain trace amounts of heavy metals that may have potential health risks, according to ConsumerReports.org. These metals include arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury that can negatively affect the health of certain body organs. Myoplex, in particular, was tested to contain 16.9 micrograms of arsenic compared with the maximum of 15 micrograms per day.
